Rules And Regulations

It is important that Participants read rules and regulations carefully and understand what they mean. By entering into the Study, Participants confirm their complete understanding and acceptance of these rules and regulations.


1. Definitions of Terms
Study To identify & document Good Environment-friendly Practices in Gujarat (GEPG)
Gujarat Within the geographical boundaries of the State of Gujarat.     
GEC-   Gujarat Ecology Commission - Management & Sponsor of the Study.
WAY World Around You – Environment Communication Partner, Process advisor and official tabulator to GEC for the Study.
Participant                            Any organization / individual that send an application to participate in the Study as per these rules, or is selected / nominated by the GEC/Jury.
Environment-friendly Practice             Any Activity / Project / Initiative(s) implemented in Gujarat as per eligibility criteria, which the Participant is entering for Study process.
Scrutiny committee       Group of persons selected by GEC to check the validity and completeness of the application forms in alignment with the rules and regulations governing the Study.
Screening Jury                            Independent group of persons selected by GEC to evaluate the participants for Final jury.
Nominees Any Participant short-listed by Screening Jury and later to be evaluated by the Final Jury through personal presentation.
Final Jury             Independent group of experts selected by GEC for evaluating the Nominees to determine the Finalists.
Finalists  Any Participant short-listed by the Final Jury on the basis of personal presentation
Rules and Regulations  These rules and regulations governing the Study, as amended from time to time.
Reward  1.Reward through inclusion in the book/ report published by   GEC.  2. Token of appreciation in form of a memento & certificate as decided by GEC.
2.Objective of the Study
To recognize, reinforce, & reward practices, which have created a positive impact on the standard or quality of environment in Gujarat.
3.Study categories and their definition
  • Participants should refer to the definitions as indicated below and accordingly apply in the appropriate Study category.
  • For the categories 1 to 4, the Practice needs to be within the following six broad thrust areas:
  • a. Nature & Bio-Diversity Conservation
  • b. Environmental Quality Management (air, water & soil)
  • c. Energy Conservation & Renewables
  • d. Agriculture & Allied Activities
  • e. Waste Management
  • f. Others (if any, mention)

  • The study categories may be changed / modified / split / merged / increased or cancelled by the GEC based on the number of entries received in each category, and the quality of the entries.
  • In the event that no participant in a category is found to be worthy of inclusion by the GEC, the study category may be cancelled. The decision of GEC in this regard will be final and non-contestable. GEC will not entertain any queries in this regard.
  • GEC may decide in order to maintain the high standards of the study, that there could be no Participant in a particular Study category and / or nominate a Participant for the Study process in a particular category.
  • GEC reserves the right to re-categorize any entry which in their view is incorrectly categorized on the basis of the information filled in the application form.
4.Eligibility criteria for participation in the Study
  1. The Participant must be Indian citizens/individuals or Indian registered companies/organization or foreign companies/organization with a registered presence in Gujarat. 
  2. Individual Participant must be above 18 years of age as on May 15, 2012. Failure to observe this will deem any selected entry invalid.
  3. The  practice  must  be  already  implemented  and  should  not  be  in  a  planning  or conceptualizing stage. The practice should have completed at least 2 years on or before May 15, 2012.
  4. The Practice can be an activity / a project / an initiative(s) which has created a positive impact on the standard or quality of the environment.
  5. Application for awareness campaigns, educational programmes, media initiatives, personal practices, mandatory practices (within the call of duty), Green/Eco-friendly products, buildings, machines, instruments will not taken into consideration for this Study.
  6. The practice must be developed within the participating organization or by an Individual and implemented in the operations of the Participant in Gujarat as defined above. An organization cannot  participate  on  behalf  of  its  subsidiary,  other  units;  parent  organization  or  other organization under the parent organization.
  7. Any Participant can send only one application per Thrust area and maximum three applications in total .
  8. Participation   in   the   Study   is   subject   to   defined   rules   and   regulations   available   on   website www.wayworld.in or www.geciczmp.com. The final eligibility of the entry received will be subject to the discretion and approval of the Final Jury.
5.Call for entries
  • Announcement for inviting entries will be done  in  one  or  more  relevant  media  and  /  or  by  direct communication with potential Participants, and that shall be construed to be adequate notice for call for entries.
  • GEC / Jury shall have the right to invite,  nominate or admit any entity or individual in any Study category to build the quality of entries in that Study category
6.Participation process

The Participant may apply for the Study as indicated below:

  • Participants can visit the website www.wayworld.in or www.geciczmp.com and download the application form from the website. Hard copy of application form will be made available from WAY office on prior request.
  • Filled in application form should be sent to the address mentioned below within 30 days from the date of the advertisement. For advertisement the participants can check the above mentioned websites regularly.
  • Along with filled forms, Participants will have to send atleast 2 and maximum 5 supporting documents like government/funding agency certificates, reports, letter of appreciation/recognition, photographs & newspaper coverage, etc. each supporting their project/ initiative/ activity with the relevant description.

7.Completeness of entries / Disqualification
  • Application form should be completed in English or Gujarati language only. In case of any difficulty the participant may approach WAY for assistance.
  • Please use permanent ink (not pencil) while filling the form. Typed forms are more preferred than handwritten.
  • Complete all sections of the form. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
  • The application form must be signed at the designated space in the application form by the individual, if the Participant is applying as an individual or the authorized signatory must sign and also affix the seal, if the Participant is an organization. Unsigned forms will not be considered for the Study process.
  • Application Form signed by the Participant will indicate the acceptance of the Rules and

Regulations stated herein and the participants shall abide by the same.

  • Please maintain one copy of the filled form with you for your records.
  • Hard copy of handwritten or typed application form should be sent through registered post/ courier.
  • Nominees who will be called for the personal presentation in front of Final Jury will have to send their authorised representative only. In case of absence in personal presentation on the given time & date, the nominees will face disqualification. Final decision regarding the same will rest with the Jury.
8.Receipt of entries
  • Forms received after the last date of application will not be considered. Though the final authority to permit or reject any entry rests with GEC.
  • The  GEC  will  not  be  responsible  for  application  forms  sent  by  the Participant that are lost in transit/received late/unreadable/damaged/ incomplete in any manner.
  • If multiple application forms are received for the same practice from different individuals / organizations, such entries will be treated as one entry and the decision to shortlist the individual/ organization rests with GEC / Jury.
9.Scrutiny and evaluation process
  • All application forms will be checked by the Scrutiny Committee to ensure that only those application forms are admitted which are valid and complete in all respect as per the rules and regulations. All application forms admitted by the Scrutiny Committee will be presented to Screening Jury for evaluation. Screening Jury will shortlist Nominees for Final Jury evaluation. The Nominees will be required to present their case to the Final Jury, in a defined format. The format will be circulated to the Nominees prior to the presentation round. It is mandatory for all Nominees to follow the instructions and format provided. Final Jury will determine the Finalists in each category. Jury’s decision shall be final and binding on all the Participants.
10.Additional information and verification of the information provided in the application form
  • GEC may seek additional information and / or proof of information from the participants or it may audit the information provided in the application form. If such a request is made and the Participant does not comply within 3 working days from the date of contacting the Participant, the Participant would be disqualified from the Study.
  • GEC will contact the Participant at the address and/or contact number as  provided by  the  Participants, but  shall  not  be  responsible if  the  person does  not participate in or does not agree for the conduct of the verification, or is not contactable, or change of address is not duly intimated to GEC in writing.
  • All the Participants shall be duty bound to reply to the clarification(s) sought for by GEC.
  • Any additional information sourced from the Participants will become part of the original application. Such information may be presented to the Final Jury, as deemed necessary.
11.Validity and correctness of information
  • If  at  any  time,  after  the  conclusion  of  any  sort,  any information provided by any Participant(s), is found to be incorrect in any manner, then the Participant will be liable to be disqualified and / or return the Recognitions awarded under  this  Study.  GEC may also take penal action against the Participant for providing false information.
  • Views of the Jury and GEC on correctness of information or other inputs provided by the participants shall be final and binding.
12.Confidentiality
  • Information provided in the application form and any additional information sourced for the Study process will be kept confidential and  will  be  used  only for  the  limited purpose of evaluating the Participant’s entry for this Study.
  • GEC and Jury shall maintain confidential any and all information pertaining to the Applications / Nominees / Identified Practices and will take same degree of care as each of them uses to protect his / her own confidential information of a similar nature, but no less than reasonable care, to prevent the unauthorized use, dissemination or publication of confidential information.
13.General
  • Mere inclusion or participation in the Study shall not entitle the Participant for inclusion in book/ report or to any other form of consideration.
  • Decision of GEC and the Jury on all matters shall be final and binding on all participants and no correspondence will be entertained on the same.
  • Participants agrees to permit GEC,free of cost, the use of their name and factual information about their application and entry(s) in the public media (for the build-up of the Study, development of the book, etc.) and do not have any right to any revenues earned through intellectual property rights generated by the Study, if any.
  • The Recognition as announced via media communications may be added / reduced by GEC.
  • Without limitation, all of the Study materials in the newspapers, websites and on any other media are the exclusive property of the sponsor and/or of the companies who may have supplied such materials to the publisher. The material, including compilation, selection, presentation and arrangement thereof, is protected by national laws on copyright, moral rights, and other intellectual property rights.  All promotional and explanatory material, whether published in the newspapers, on websites or any other media form part of these rules and regulations.
  • Participants may not modify, reproduce, distribute, exchange, sell or transmit any of the material, nor store it in any form (whether tangible or electronic). Copying or downloading the material for any business, commercial or public purpose is strictly forbidden. Civil or criminal liability may result from any use in contravention of this clause. The Study’s name and logo, and any other graphics, logos and trademarks used in the media are protected by laws on intellectual property. None of the trademarks may be used in association with the products or services of a third party or in a manner which could, either directly or indirectly, defame or discredit GEC, WAY or a third party. All trademarks and trade names appearing on the media used (including names or products belonging to third parties) remain entirely the intellectual property of GEC or the intellectual property of their respective owners (as the case may be).
  • The process is not subject to review of any Participant. GEC will not entertain any communication in this regard from any Participant.
  • GEC and its contractors cannot and shall not be accountable / liable for any disruptions / stoppages / interruptions or cancellation of the Study. WAY and its contractors cannot be held responsible for matters out of its control and for force majeure reasons.
  • GEC reserves the right to, at its discretion, withdraw or amend or add to the Rules of the Study at any time, with prospective or retrospective effect, and does not take responsibility for any loss or damage that any individual or organization may suffer as a result of participating or attempting to participate in the Study, the Study being withdrawn or its Rules amended.
  • GEC, WAY and its contractors and affiliates will not be liable for any claims / disputes made by the Participant or Nominee in relation to the Study.
  • All disputes relating to or arising out of the Study shall be subject to the laws of India, and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction in Gujarat.
  • In the event if these Rules do not cover any question or complaint in relation to the Study, the same will be concluded on by the Jury (for issues related to final selection of practices) or GEC (for all other issues).
